navigate this! 2007
feat. British Sea Power

British Sea Power headline this years "navigate this!" festival on Friday 20th July at The Engine Shed, Lincoln. With gallant support from Rotary Ten, Ice Cream Social, Rides The Bus, Great British Smile, Virile and Toxic Graffiti.

The navigate this! festival stretches over the 20th and 21st of July, coinciding with Lincoln's Water Front Festival. Three established Lincoln 'Live Music' venues host the events, The Bivouac @ The Duke of Wellington, The Drill Hall, and the University's Engine Shed.

Brighton based, British Sea Power are currently holed up in a studio recording their 3rd Album for Rough Trade Records somewhere in central Europe. Luckily for us, they've decided to take a break and play this, their only UK show this July and August.

After charming the world with two Albums since 2003, British Sea Power have graced the charts, and the world's stages with the likes of Pulp, Faust, The Flaming Lips, The Killers, and The Strokes amongst others. From the early days of their own Club Sea Power, to the later days, travels with more than their Aunt, British Sea Power are one of the most unique British bands.

British Sea Power's live show isn't just a gig, but a thoughtful frolic through the beech trees. Tea and biscuits, anyone? Art house movie musings, with peregrine falcons aloft, most indubitably. All to the sound of stiff upper lipped passion gone mad, with their "stadium sized melodies" exhilaratingly coming out of nowhere. Exquisite songwriting lauded and endorsed by David Bowie, Radiohead and Lou Reed, to name a few. Their show,... an event in it's self.

Supporting British Sea Power on stage that night are Lincoln's finest new bands, playing short "hit" filled sets.

Rotary Ten's indie 'star crossed' pop, somewhere between The Smiths and Interpol, precede British Sea Power. Ice Cream Social's "it's all indie rave now" enthusiastic passion will draw a smile, if not move your entire body. Both bands rated by NME, The Fly and other music magazines. Rides The Bus return with their take on modern ska punk. Great British Smile, with their indie pop/rock sensibilities follow the new bash cool of Virile, with their driving guitars and short, but repetitive hook laden songs. Finally, Toxic Graffiti open the night with their entertaining take on Rawk.

It's a packed, slick, summer night in store, while the sea breezes billow, and the tall ship's sails take us on a journey across the pool.
