MY DEAF AUDIO - ARE THE NEW BLACK -
"Brit rocking also-rans
come back brighter...
Borne out of Brighton, My Deaf Audio were among those to emerge on the last
crest of the melodic/hardcore/screamo/whatever wave. Signed to Lockjaw, they
released the decent 'Night Drive In' to mixed reviews. It seemed that it was
time for a rethink. Holing up back home, the band locked themselves away in
an attempt to find their own true sound. And fuck, did they manage it!
Buzzsaw guitars, thunderous drums, sneered vocals and a kinetic energy
abound on their new material, sounding like a pile-up of The Clash, Refused
and Turbonegro in the process with the likes of 'Turn Off The World' and
'Right Now' sounding like world beating anthems of fist-in-the-air rock 'n'
roll rebellion. Currently drawing big crowds whenever they play Europe, it
looks as if, with 'Are The New Black', they could finally achieve greatness
in Britain as well.
'Are The New Black' is out in February on Bivouac
