MY DEAF AUDIO - ARE THE NEW BLACK - Bivouac Recordings
EP Review - KKK
Brighton's New Hopes Growl Out Of The Garage.
WHEN, DURING 'Are The New Black''s opener 'Get Out Right Now', My Deaf Audio
frontman Andy Reed advises the residents of Brighton that it might be an idea
to go and visit relatives up north for the weekend as the band are going to
"burn down this town", the over-mined garage-rock genre is suddenly
given a much-needed shot of danger. Boredom has long inspired musicians to pick
up guitars, and My Deaf Audio have managed to create a strutting sound that's
tightly controlled, but straining at its chains in a manner so tense, you can
physically feel their need to do something - anything - with their lives.
This four-track EP might be nothing new, but it is proof that there's life -
and possibly rabies - in the old dog yet.
