My Deaf Audio - My Deaf Audio Are The New Black (Bivouac)
UK release date: 7 February 2005
How to describe My Deaf Audio? Imagine Jim Morrison washed up on our shores
alive and well, and proceeded to form a killer retro outfit with Jet. Oozing
70s swagger and flair, the Brighton foursome are set to cause even more
of a stir than racist mayors.
Having been around on the live scene for a couple of years now, theyve
managed to secure a concrete reputation as a kick ass band in the flesh, but
transferring that to record can and has been the down fall of many young hopefuls
before them. However, what sounds at first like yet another stripped down retro
band of twangy annoyance, plays out as a symphony of indie punk rock that smacks
you across the face.
Turn Off The World is a slice of Clash inspired anger that beats out with a
distinct lack of bass, but makes up for the missing low end with some killer
sing along moments. Were Convicted is an Epic B-side which sees the angry
indie troupe at their most inventive with an impressive (if lyrically bland)
vocal track from Andy Reed. Theres just enough classic British snarl in
there for them to keep their heads above water in the overcrowded pool of garage
rock, but theyd better learn how to swim pretty darn quick.
